Banned Books

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by nlrt on 12-12-2007

Sometimes people think certain books should not be read by students and others.  They might try to ‘ban’ a book, or get it removed from libraries and schools and get stores to stop selling the book.  Two of Mark Twain’s books were banned:  The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.

1.  Go online to find out WHY people have tried to ban books.  E-mail a paragraph to me telling the reasons people have for banning or challenging books.

2.  Find a list of books that were banned or challenged in the last ten years.  See how many of the books on the list you have read, either on your own or in school.

3.  Send the class an e-mail explaining your opinion on banning books.  Do you think certain books should be removed from schools and libraries, or do you think all books should be allowed, no matter what the books say?
